I’ve been coveting the Valentino Tan-go platform pumps ever since they dropped. They are SO vampy and fun. And when Pierpaolo debuted his Pink PP collection and I saw them in Valentino’s newest signature hue, I about died.
These shoes were made to be seen. They were made to elevate the stature AND the psyche. And indeed they do.
Unfortunately, my fear of breaking my ankle was founded While I didn’t actually break my ankle, it became clear when I tried them on that these are not the shoes for me.
So I tried the Versace platform pumps.
I literally squealed out loud when I put them on. They made me feel like Barbie. Everything was coming up roses in these shoes!
The wider toe bed and heel make these much easier to walk in compared to the Valentinos. Yes, they are still 6-inch platforms so you won’t be going very far in them, but they are definitely easier on your center of gravity.
I’m not going to lie. These babies are like a tractor beam. Every time I try to break away, they keep reigning me back in. I think it’s only a matter of time before I succumb.
Shoe trends are funny like that. Or should I say “strategic?” Last year we got the flatform sandal for summer. And then the lug sole platform-esque Chelsea boots for fall. Platform pumps are the next step in the evolution. And I’m here for it.
