After a brief hiatus from posting last week, I’m back to my normal schedule and feeling really energized for what’s to come. In less than two weeks I’m headed back to New York Fashion Week! If you’ve been reading In Spades for a while now, you know that each NYFW season truly is my favorite time of year (although I’m slightly partial to September for the better weather!). It always provides a crazy boost of inspiration, an opportunity to network with new and old friends alike, and focus on upcoming trends and how I can incorporate them into the blog. Be sure to follow me on Instagram for BTS coverage of all the shows!
This week my sister and I are embarking on a fun outing that brings back several memories from our childhood. I’ll be recapping everything on Instagram Stories, but let’s just say this week’s post title is a good hint of the events to come.
Today’s OOTD is a great example of investing in good staples. I purchased these loafers after going through 3 pairs of ballet flats that were still super uncomfortable despite being well past the broken-in point. The moment I slipped them on I knew the investment was well worth it. I’ve worn them every single day since owning them because they truly go with everything – jeans, dresses and work outfits. I paired them with a preppy bowtie button-up and voluminous denim, which you may remember from a past post. As much as I love these jeans, I noticed I wasn’t wearing them much because they were a little too long. I finally took them to a tailor to achieve the cropped look I wanted, and am so glad I did. Just a slight change transformed them from something that was sitting in my closet collecting dust to a wardrobe staple.
What small changes can you make in your wardrobe that will bring old pieces back to life?
